I’ve been thinking about the concept of home lately.
I’ve lived in two different countries in my lifetime – 20 years in Singapore and 14 in the United States. In my 14 years here, I have lived in South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Texas.
So where exactly is home now? I don’t know. Singapore used to be home, but I spent my formative years in the United States. I look back on my years in South Carolina with fondness and a pang of reminiscence, but it wasn’t home.
When I lived in Dallas, I missed Virginia. Now that I’m back in Virginia, I miss Dallas.
I sometimes wonder if God places a wanderlust in me, a quiet but relentless urge to just up and go, to point me to my eternal home with Him where I will find rest and contentment. Where the grass isn’t greener on another pasture.
Found MercyMe’s “Homesick” live performance on Jeremy Blount’s blog. Thought I’d share with you.
